MIAMI -- Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals are playing well at the right time. Dexter McCoil Jersey . Strasburg pitched seven strong innings to help the NL-leading Washington Nationals to a 2-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday for a four-game sweep. "Just have to keep the train rolling," Strasburg said. Nate Schierholtz and Anthony Rendon drove in runs for the Nationals (91-64), who completed an 11-game road trip 9-2 and lead the Los Angeles Dodgers (89-67) for the best record in the National League. "Really important, a good road trip for us against some teams that has been playing well especially here in a place where they play very good at home," Nationals manager Matt Williams said. "We won some close ones and pitching was good, that certainly will keep you in any ballgame. You have those guys toe the rubber every day, youve got a chance. We did enough to win, which is good." Strasburg (13-11) allowed three hits and two walks. He struck out five while throwing 55 of his 84 pitches for strikes. He is 3-1 with a 1.34 ERA over his last five starts. "The way he is throwing right now, thats the way that everybody wants to see him," said Nationals catcher Jose Lobaton. Rafael Soriano got through the ninth for his 32nd save in 39 chances. Marlins pinch-hitter Reed Johnson led off the ninth with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Donovan Solano to cut the deficit to 2-1. Casey McGehee lined out to a sliding Bryce Harper in left field to end the game. "You look at that pitching staff over there and its the best pitching staff in the National League," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "Those guys keep coming and it probably doesnt matter what lineup they throw out there, with that pitching they have the ability to shut you down." The Nationals scored in the fifth off Nathan Eovaldi (6-13). Lobaton led off the inning with a double and scored on Schierholtzs triple to centre field. Rendon followed with an RBI single. Eovaldi allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings. "I just wanted to eliminate those big innings today and not make those big mistakes," Eovaldi said. The Marlins had four hits and have lost five of six. TRAINERS ROOM Marlins: CF Marcell Ozuna sprained his right ankle running into second base in the seventh inning and left the game. Ozuna attempted to reach second after his hit was bobbled by left fielder Kevin Frandsen. Ozuna went into the base without sliding and hit the bag awkwardly before tumbling and was tagged out. He was helped off the field without putting any pressure on his ankle. X-rays were negative. "Thats another tough blow for us," Redmond said. "We really dont have a timetable for him. Well see how it progresses over the next couple of days." UP NEXT Both teams are off on Monday before their final seven games of the regular season. Washington: Hosts the New York Mets for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday with RHP Tanner Roark (14-10, 2.85) on the mound against Mets RHP Bartolo Colon (14-12, 4.02). Miami: At Philadelphia. RHP Henderson Alvarez (11-6, 2.82) faces Phillies LHP Cole Hamels (9-7, 2.47). HEANEY EFFECT Marlins top pitching prospect LHP Andrew Heaney retired nine of the 10 batters he faced to end the game. It was Heaneys second appearance out of the bullpen after making four starts earlier in the season. TRIPLES IN BUNCHES Schierholtzs triple was the Nationals fifth in the last three games. They recorded five in their previous 56 games. Kellen Winslow Jersey . Pistorius denied the allegation that he said to the close friend of the girlfriend he killed: "How can you sleep at night?" The accusation by Kim Myers provided a bizarre twist during the trial of the world-famous double-amputee Olympian, who is facing 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder for shooting dead Steenkamp, a 29-year-old model, at his home last year. Jatavis Brown Jersey .com) - Houston Texans interim head coach Wade Phillips confirmed Monday that starting quarterback Case Keenum sustained a sprained right thumb during Sundays 25-3 loss in Indianapolis. http://www.chargersprofansshop.com/Black-Philip-Rivers-Chargers-Jersey.html?cat=864 . I kept my eyes focused up on the camera during each approach. I just tried to stay focused on my form, as I didnt know what the ball reaction was. I was quite emotional at the end. I did not actually see any of the shots in the game until I got home and watched the video. ST. JOHNS, N.L. -- Michael Hutchinson has been the difference-maker for the St. Johns IceCaps throughout the American Hockey League Eastern Conference final. Tuesdays Game 6 was no different. Hutchinson made 34 saves as St. Johns advanced to the Calder Cup final with a 5-0 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. "Hutchinson is playing really well right now and he played a strong game tonight," IceCaps head coach Keith McCambridge said. "He has done nothing but show he is a goaltender who is knocking on the door of the National Hockey League since we got him." The modest netminder credited his team with the shutout performance, saying the players in front of him played a great defensive game. "Fortunately the guys blocked a lot of shots, cleared rebounds and tied up sticks," Hutchinson said. "They really let me see the puck, and when I was able to see the puck I held onto it. It was a great team effort." Hutchinson added that winning the elimination game feels "unbelievable." "This is what you go for all season, to play for a championship," he said. "To get here is an unbelievable feeling, and to win on home ice makes it that much more special." McCambridge said the IceCaps were hoping the team would eliminatee the Penguins on the road, but he was happy with the Game 6 win. Denzel Perryman Jersey. "Everybody was disappointed that we were unable to close out the series in five (games) but you have to be realistic," he said. "Youre in the conference finals and its hard to close out (in five games), its rare. We said that if we were able to take two out of three in the oppositions building against a very good team, wed be happy with it." Eric ODell, Blair Riley, Adam Lowry, Jason Jaffray and Zach Redmond scored for St. Johns. The IceCaps opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 17:53 of the first period. ODell tipped a shot from Brenden Kichton in over the blocker of Penguins goalie Peter Mannino. Lowry doubled the IceCaps lead 3:24 into the second period, tapping in a Josh Morrissey feed that found the forward in front of the net. Riley tipped a point shot five-hole to extend the IceCaps lead to three at the 2:23 mark of the third period. Redmond scored a fourth for St. Johns with a wrist shot from the point while Jaffray screened Mannino at 5:21. Jaffray added an empty-net goal with 47.5 seconds left. Mannino made 25 saves for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. St. Johns will play the Texas Stars, who beat the Toronto Marlies in Game 7 Tuesday, for the AHL championship.
