HELSINKI Nike Air More Uptempo Schweiz , Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- At a time of concern about the security situation of the country, Finns have found common identity in a war veteran.

A 101-year-old Hannes Hynonen became a national celebrity in Finland as he danced and mingled with the nation's elite at the presidential ball on Independence Day.

Huge pictures of the 101-year-old appeared in practically all newspapers. Experts said the media frenzy around the war veteran reflected the mental climate of the nation.

Hynonen was not the only veteran present, but stood out due to his preparedness to talk and his good physical condition at the age of 101.

He recollected how he heard the first sounds of artillery while enjoying morning tea as a soldier at the end of November 1939 when the war between the USSR and Finland broke out.

Media researcher Veijo Hietala from the Turku University told the newspaper Uusi Suomi that the media phenomenon around Hynonen indicated that there is a demand now for such a figure connected with Finnish history.

The analyst said there is a feeling of anxiety in Finland because of the Ukrainian crisis, and veteran Hynonen is a living proof of the fact that Finland has been able to survive.

Before returning to his home town of Mikkeli in southeastern Finland, Hynonen appeared on national TV shows and expressed opinions on issues including the current situation.

War veterans have been guests of honour in the presidential ball for all through the post war decades and they traditionally enter first to the tunes of a famous Finnish military march by composer Jean Sibelius. During the immediate post war decades, most publicity was given to war time generals still alive then.

There are still 27 Nike Vapormax Off White Schweiz ,000 veterans alive in Finland, including 13,000 women. There were no female soldiers in Finland, but women served in a voluntary auxiliary organization.

The image of Finnish war veterans has been affected by the novel The Unkown Soldier by Finnnish writer Vaino Linna. Published first in 1954, the book has been translated into 24 languages.

The image of Finnish war veterans will get more international focus next year when new translations into English and German will be available, the publisher WSOY said.

World War Two veterans have been eligible for special rehabilitation services and additional pensions. They are available also for those who have emigrated Air Jordan 1 Off White Schweiz , as Finland has financed health services in foreign countries for Finnish veterans living there.

The number of female imams, known locally as ahong, acting as spiritual leaders and teachers for Muslim women, is rising in China, especially in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. They have broken through taboos and barriers and won wide recognition among female believers. After learning doctrines and taking certification exam Nike Presto Off White Schweiz , more than 80 female imams in Ningxia have been licensed by the government. They lead Muslim women in prayer at mosques, teach them about the Koran and Islamic culture and offer religious services. They also mediate domestic disputes and enhance women's awareness of their rights. Female imams are playing an increasingly essential role in improving gender equality, the quality of local women's religious life and social harmony.

Every morning before the clock strikes five, 50-year-old Jin Meihua, a Muslim living in Wuzhong, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Nike Blazer Off White Schweiz , has already hauled herself out of bed and walked into her living room.

She turns on the lights, opens her Koran and starts to chant Islamic verses.

After preparing breakfast for her family, she trots to a mosque a few minutes' walk away to lead a Koran study class.

There, dozens of Muslim women wait every morning for Jin to teach them about their religion. Over the course of a two-hour class, Jin guides them in chanting Koranic verses in Arabic and teaches them how to interpret the holy scripture. This has been Jin's routine for 18 years, rain or shine.

Jin is a female imam or ahong Air Force 1 Off White Schweiz , an Islamic spiritual leader. Female imams and female-only mosques are a distinctive feature of Chinese Islam, rarely, if ever seen elsewhere.

Currently, Ningxia has more than 80 female imams that have been licensed by the local government after passing official examinations. There are more than 3,760 registered mosques and 8,000 imams in the region according to a Xinhua News Agency report Nike Air Max 90 Off White Schweiz , and they provide services to the 2.32 million Muslims that live in Ningxia, one third of the region's residents.

Jin's hometown Wuzhong has one of the highest concentrations of ethnically Hui Muslims of any town in China, as they make up around 53 percent of its population.

"The appearance of female imams has met female Muslims' demand for religious education and is beneficial for the stability and harmony of the Muslim community," Ma Yuzhong, director of the Wuzhong Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, told the Global Times.

This phenomenon has coincided with Muslim women's growing demand for greater equality Nike Off White The Ten Schweiz , Ma said.

'I wanted to know what I can do'

In some Muslim communities, as in many traditional societies, women have long had a lower social status than men. In Ningxia, most women marry young, depriving them of educational and employment opportunities.

This restriction of opportunities extends to their religious life. They are not allowed to pray in mosques with men.

The status of Muslim women angered Jin Meihua and she swore to change it. When she was 30 years old, she decided to become an imam.

Born in 1964 Nike Air Footscape Magista Schweiz , Jin was forced to drop out of education afte
